A derecho struck Cypress directly, producing an EF-1 tornado that tracked 1.44 miles near Tuckerton and Greenhouse Roads with an estimated $500,000 in damage, plus an estimated 90-knot (about 104 mph) wind gust; the wider event brought 100-plus mph gusts, flash flooding, and multi-day outages across the Houston area.
